iGivefirst, developer of a user-friendly platform that allows website visitors to safely donate to various nonprofits via an on-page “Give” button, today announced the addition of Mike Niyompong as its new vice president of product management.
Niyompong previously served as a vice president of Mile High United Way, a nonprofit community investment organization which helps those in need in the areas of school readiness, youth success and adult self-sufficiency. In this role, he oversaw and managed the overall technology and facilities of the organization, including the IT department, where he implemented a technical plan to support the organization’s strategies.
“Recent technology has proven that people respond to and are sympathetic toward the issues they read about on news websites, but their involvement typically doesn’t go any further than sharing the news on social media sites,” said Niyompong. “iGivefirst provides people with the opportunity to easily and safely contribute any dollar amount they choose to a charity and will increase the likelihood that they will make an impact.”
iGivefirst allows nonprofits to solicit donations via media sites, including both “traditional” media outlets and blogs. For example, a user reading anews story or blog post about an earthquake could click the “Give” button to visit a secure donation page for disaster relief specific to that event. Niyompong’s background in IT and active involvement in various causes and nonprofits will enable him to establish a vision and strategic direction for the company by combining his technical knowledge with a passion for social involvement.
“We’re hopeful that our dedication to helping others in need will translate to everyone who is connected through social media. Within that, we want to build a team focused on the values of leadership, philanthropy and ingenuity,” said Sharif Youssef, founder and CEO of iGivefirst. “Mike’s professional experience, skill set and motivating outlook are consistent with iGivefirst’s goals of increasing social involvement through the strategic use of new technologies to share and spread the idea of generosity.”
Christine Benero, CEO and President of Mile High United Way, showed her support for iGivefirst. “I am thrilled for Mike in his new role with iGivefirst and look forward to continuing to work with Mike in his new endeavor,” Benero said.
